One of the patriarchs in the Hebrew tradition.

Said to have come from Ur in Chaldaea (Kaldu/Kardu, which is not the Ur in southern Mesopotamia but the area of modern Urfa).
First came to Egypt in 1853 BCE (under the rule of Nebkaure Khety 4 of the 10th (Heracleopolitan) Dynasty).
